Would you like to return to swimming? Limerick Masters swimming club is a competitive masters club that has a passion for swimming, healthy lifestyle, quality coaching in top class pools and fun. In March each year at the Sports Campus at UL, Limerick Masters host the Irish Open Long Course Championships. The club also organise the Thomond Swim, an open water swim, which takes place during the summer months in the heart of Limerick city. Early bird wednesday training

Hi Members, The next term of early – bird training will start on this Wednesday, 8th Jan. (7 – 7:50am) & will run until Wed.16th April (15 sessions) The fee for the term is 50 euro or 5 euro per session – pay as you go. We are introducing an item called Coaches Corner and hope that you will find it to your benefit. The topic  is about training specifics. We train to a system to suit our needs and sport. Explanations will be as user friendly as possible. In modern swimming set-up we use 6 different types, primarily to cover all distances and types of individual. Christmas day swim

Don’t they look like they are enjoying themselves.  Our annual 25m splash and dash into the “inviting” waters of the Shannon will take place at 12 noon at the Boat Club in UL.  All hardy swimmers will be rewarded by some mince pies and a tipple if you are of age of course. No doubt Brian Dillon & Rosin Harbison will be back in action to defend their titles

The beautiful Curragower falls … well at this time of year we won’t be swimming over them but we will be close by.  All members are welcome to join the festive end of year pool frolics in UL at the earlier time of 8 pm. We will retire after to the Curragower Bar on Clancys Strand for Club awards, finger food and craic. Rumour has it there is a Bluegrass band in residence that night so take it easy on the sprints in the pool

Gala diary

Our next gala focus will be our own Limerick Masters Long Course event. The event will take place over 2 days in the pool in UL March the 1st & 2nd. The 1500m event will take place on the Sunday. We expect full attendance by all club members. We will be looking for volunteers to assist the sub-committee on the day. Marcus has already had some keen interest from abroad … the UK, our Italian friends in Rarinantes Valsugana look like they will be back and it seems we have Russian interest

Results from Mallow Masters

Congrats to all the Limerick swimmers who took part in the Mallow Master gala recently. Total medal count: 26 Gold, 31 Silver, 17 Bronze in individual events. 8 Gold, 20 Silver, 4 Bronze in relay events. Total record count: 1 Irish Record, 14 Munster Records subject to ratification. Limerick also retained the Overall Best Performing Club trophy with a great team effort from both men and women.
