Christmas day swim

As it was Christmas day and forgiveness was in the air there was a brief interlude in the stormy weather and we were granted a sunny spell as 12 repentant souls – male and female took to the calm chilly waters of the Shannon at UL boat Club for the Christmas Day Masters dash. The competition as always was tough with a beady eye on winning the race but a much more focussed eye on the mince pies, hot tea, coffee and added extras which were readily available at the finish line. Brian Dillon displayed an air of confidence that he would retain his trophy but was completely overwhelmed by most of the field as Phillip Brady was declared the new Mens champion. Bronagh Le Gear also prevailed to put her name on the Ladies trophy. A good crowd turned up to support the event, cheer on the participants, join in for the post race celebrations and depart for their respective turkeys.

Many thanks to all for the support and as Phillip Brady was overheard to say roll on 2014!
