From Siberia with Love

The first entrant for the 2014 gala was our competitor from Russia Roman Tolstik. Roman explained to us that he comes from the Novosibirsk region of Siberia. To get to Limerick Roman took a four hour flight to Moscow followed by a four hour flight to London and then a modest hop to Shannon. Last year he participated in the British Masters and this year decided to go one step further. New look club logo

Limerick Masters has an exciting new logo which we on the committee hope you like. The vision of the logo was to create something contemporary and energetic which represents our club today. The logo is an energetic swimmer amidst a wave, with Limericks Treaty stone in the background. It was developed keeping in mind the history of our original logo designed by LSC coach, Gerry Ryan. Coaches Corner Issue 2

Following our first article on training systems we are now moving on to Endurance 2. Over 70% of training for all swimmers is done in this system. Again depending on the time you can swim any distance from 1000 to 3000 meters sets of 100/200/400/800 may be used plus other combinations. Intensity is around 75% to 80 % of max effort, rest should be short but no shorter than 8 seconds and no longer than 30 seconds, on your 100s and 200s and adjust accordingly on the longer distances.
